The Ri Collections and Heritage Department runs tours of the history of the building and Faraday Museum for groups of between ten and 40 people.

Led by an expert member of the department, tours cover elements of the history and architecture of the building as well as telling the stories behind some of the museum displays.

Tours will usually commence on the first floor where the displays relate to the theme of communication and, unless it is in use, will include a visit to the historic large lecture theatre where the CHRISTMAS LECTURES are recorded. The ground floor deals with various aspects of the Royal Institution's activities, past and present, whilst the lower ground floor is devoted to the history of scientific discovery in the building.

Tour details

Tours usually last 1½ - 2 hours but can be shorter if necessary and tour timings should be arranged with the department.

Prices are £10 per person for ten people or more and for groups of less than ten there is a flat rate of £100. It may be possible to add smaller groups or individuals to existing tours at the per head rate but this can’t be guaranteed.
