2026 marks fifty-years since CGI was founded. Over that time, technology has transformed the way we live and work, and CGI has continued to evolve with it. Since 1976, we have worked with clients to address complex challenges through business and IT consulting, systems integration, managed services and technology solutions.
So, in a year when we are reflecting on fifty-years of CGI, it feels particularly fitting to be supporting a CHRISTMAS LECTURES® series that explores one of science’s most fascinating and fundamental subjects: time. Time has a very practical relationship with technology. Precise timing and synchronisation underpin many of the systems we depend on every day, from navigation and communications to banking, energy and transport. CGI’s work across industries gives us a first-hand view of how science and technology come together to solve complex, real-world challenges.
Supporting STEM education is an important part of CGI’s commitment to developing the skills and talent of the future. As we celebrate CGI’s 50th milestone, this year’s exploration of time gives us an opportunity to reflect on how far science and technology have come, and to imagine what advances the next fifty-years could bring.
The scientists, engineers and technologists who will make those future discoveries may be sitting in classrooms today. By fostering curiosity, encouraging young people to explore STEM subjects and creating opportunities to engage with science, we hope, alongside the Ri, to inspire the next generation to ask big questions, explore new possibilities and play their part in shaping the future.
