For Your Inspiration: Reach for the Cosmos

Join us for an inspiring afternoon exploring the wide range of careers in space.

NASA

From the vastness of our solar system to the most distant galaxies, space invites us to explore, imagine and innovate.

During the event, there will be engaging talks in the Theatre from people working across the space sector, who will share how they study the universe from Earth and beyond. Following the talks, there will be a Q&A session giving everyone the chance to ask the questions that spark their curiosity.

For the rest of the event you are free to explore interactive activities and demonstrations throughout the building. Meet experts from universities, research centres and organisations across the UK. Learn about the wide range of roles that contribute to space exploration and try hands‑on activities that bring the cosmos closer.  This session offers an inspiring introduction to the incredible breadth of opportunities within space science, engineering and discovery.

About For Your Inspiration events

These events are designed for young people aged 13+, and offer an exciting hands-on experience of a huge range of scientific topics. Featuring scientists from Universities and companies from across the UK, these events give young people the chance to explore in depth a topic, talk to scientists working in this field, and discover the wide range of different jobs available. Adults are also welcome and encouraged to come along too, together with their young people.

The event starts at 12.00pm. Attendees will explore the libraries on our first floor, where they will find interactive exhibits from a range of research groups and companies working in the sector. This gives you the chance to get hands-on with active research, chat with scientists, and discover what it is actually like working in science.

By booking to attend events at the Royal Institution, you confirm that you have read and accept the Ri's event terms and conditions. You also agree to abide by our code of conduct, and help to create a great experience for yourself and your fellow participants.
