Science and snacks: Droplet mechanics

We'll bring the science, you bring the snacks.

Droplets of liquid are found in many natural and industrial processes.

Join Yatin Darbar as he explores how to understand and investigate how droplets mix, and why. Through a combination of mathematical modelling, computer simulations and experimental investigations, Yatin gains insights into this problem in different ways.

Using some examples of the work he has done, discover what his findings have helped us to understand.

Event type

This event is particularly suitable for ages 13+ and takes place in our Conversation room. It is a smaller and more intimate event where you explore research currently being undertaken by students across the UK.

Our cafe will be closed so please bring your snacks with you. Alcoholic drinks are not permitted at this event. Please do be mindful to not bring any foods that contain nuts.

By booking to attend events at the Royal Institution, you confirm that you have read and accept the Ri's event terms and conditions. You also agree to abide by our code of conduct, and help to create a great experience for yourself and your fellow participants.

Yatin is currently a PhD Researcher at the Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Fluid Dynamics at the University of Leeds. Before this he completed a Masters in Mathematics at the University of Birmingham.

Yatin’s research centres on understanding the internal dynamics of coalescing droplets through mathematical, computational and experimental means.

Beyond this he enjoys running, cooking and communicating science through different outreach and engagement activities.
