A pioneering global technology company helping to transform businesses, governments, and communities through connectivity, Viasat is partnering with the Ri to inspire, engage and connect young people and their families with the world of science.

The CHRISTMAS LECTURES®, established in 1825 by renowned scientist Michael Faraday, are the longest-running series of science talks for children in the world, igniting curiosity and sparking scientific interest among audiences for generations.

In 2025, the Lectures’ 200th anniversary year, Dame Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock will take audiences on an extraordinary journey from the surface of the Earth to the farthest reaches of the cosmos, to answer the question: ‘Is there life beyond Earth?’

Katherine Mathieson, Director of the Royal Institution, said: “We are extremely excited to have the support of Viasat as a Partner on our world-renowned Christmas Lectures®.

“In this special year celebrating the Lectures’ 200 anniversary, we are about to film an equally special series of Lectures from Dame Maggie. With Viasat's support we are looking forward to reaching new and more diverse audiences to engage with science and scientists.”

Tory See, Viasat Senior Director, Sustainability & ESG, said: “We are excited to support this year’s CHRISTMAS LECTURES® which take a deep dive into a topic very close to our hearts here at Viasat – Space.

“Encouraging young people to take an active interest in STEM subjects is foundational to Viasat’s Social Impact work and we are delighted to have the opportunity to promote the work of the Royal Institution in engaging young minds and fostering curiosity in not just our world, but the universe beyond.”

The 2025 CHRISTMAS LECTURES® from the Royal Institution will be broadcast on BBC Four and iPlayer in late December, before being made available for audiences worldwide via the Ri’s YouTube channel.
