Ri Director, Katherine Mathieson, pays tribute to Lord Julian Hunt

On behalf of the Staff, Trustees, Patrons and Members of the Royal Institution (Ri), Director, Katherine Mathieson, has today paid tribute to former Trustee, Julian Hunt, Baron Hunt of Chesterton.

Katherine said: “It is with great sadness that we have received news of the death of Lord Julian Hunt.

“Julian was an energetic and passionate supporter of the Ri, making a significant contribution to our charity while serving for three terms as a Trustee, between 2012 and 2021.

“During that time, Julian was central to efforts to successfully overcome severe financial challenges we faced as a charity, while acting with integrity to advise and guide the Ri in meeting our charitable purpose for public benefit. His support helped secure the financial future of the Ri in particular, on two separate occasions, most recently during and in the aftermath of the Covid-19 Pandemic.

“We know from Julian’s son, Tristram, just how much the Royal Institution meant to his father. So on behalf of the Trustees, Patrons, Members and staff of the Ri, I would like to convey our deepest condolences to Julian’s family and friends."
