Pay what you feel

Event description

Join us for a night of games, talks and activities as we explore diversity in the gaming and tech industries. Black scientists, researchers and gamers from across the UK will discuss their work, with interactive activities for you to enjoy. Talks will be on throughout the evening alongside live gaming sessions in the theatre. 

Tickets for this event are ‘Pay what you feel’.

6.30pm - 6.55pmCreating the world's first AR gaming robot

Creator of MekaMon, Silas Adekunle, discusses where the idea for the world's first AR gaming robot originated. Tracing it's story from prototype to market, he will explain the unique challenges and opportunities that the technology has presented and what's next for MekaMon.

Origninally from Nigeria, Silas Adekunle co-founded Reach Robotics while still a student at the University of the West of England. He has been named Financial Times' list of the 'Top 100 minority ethnic leaders in technology' and was one of Forbes' 30 under 30 in European Tech in 2017.

7.05pm - 7.30pm: Gaming Culture: A discussion to be had 

Jay-Ann Lopez is a empowerment influencer, poet, public speaker and entrepreneur.  She is the Founder of Black Girl Gamers and Co-founder of Curlture.

7.35pm - 8.00pm: Alex Fefegha 

Alex is the co-founder & head of making at Comuzi, a design & innovation studio, working at the intersection of emerging technology and humans. Some of Comuzi's clients include Nike, ASOS, Uber, BBC, University of Arts London, Ustwo, Waltham Forest Council and the NHS.  

Alex's work has been recognised internationally in recent times for his work investigating the ethical implications of AI, algorithmic bias in regards to race and gender and exploring the future technological interfaces that we as humans will interact with. Alex holds a Masters degree in Innovation from Central St Martins.

8.05pm - 8.30pm: What you â€‹need to succeed in the industry.

Mark Martin aka @Urban_Teacher is recognised around the world for his insight and passion for education and technology. He has taught ICT for over 10 years and has become an expert in helping teachers and schools use technology to improve teaching and learning. Mark is an international speaker travelling to different countries inspiring educators to become better facilitators. Mark is actively involved in the UK tech sector, supporting tech companies and promoting cultural diversity within organisation. 


Raspberry Pi will bring interactive demos as well as copies of gaming magazine, Wireframe

With the new Reach EDU app, you can also learn to code and use MekaMon as a tool for your own robotic innovations.

TerraTech by Payload Studios -TerraTech is an open-world, sandbox adventure game, where you design and build your own creations through a mix of crafting, combat and discovery. Explore, build, craft and battle across uncharted worlds in a physics-based construction sandbox. Design cars, tanks and planes from a huge library of blocks. Scavenge, craft and buy new parts in order to survive and become the ultimate planetary prospector.

Payload Studios is an independent, London-based studio founded in 2013, with the goal of building community-driven, living game experiences. Their first title is the award-winning, creative sandbox game, TerraTech, which is due for release this summer on PC, PS4 and Xbox One, after an increasingly successful spell in Steam Early Access.  



The first floor is step-free access from the street via lift.
