In this workshop students will have a hands-on introduction to electrical circuits, by controlling a driverless model automatic train.
Using pressure switches, slide switches and programmable controllers, students will build and design an increasingly complex electronic control system.
Jeremy King is an Engineer and science communicator, who worked as a Chartered Civil Engineer for 30 years, building motorways, power stations, multi-storey office blocks and more.
Jeremy now works around the country, running workshops for over 8000 students a year.
Please note, this workshop is strictly for 10–12 year-olds. There will be a short break during the workshop and a drink and a small snack will be provided. Students should bring their own snack if they have any allergies.

The Engineering Summer School workshops are based on Ri Engineering Masterclasses. Students who have attended a Masterclass series which included a session on a similar topic may have already seen some of the content in this workshop. Workshops are on the first floor of our building, for which there is step-free access from the street via lift.
The closest underground station is Green Park, which is step-free.
