Fractals are a surprising mathematical pattern which is found all around us in the world, from cauliflower to the tiny snowflake, but do you know what a fractal is?
Students will be introduced to these fascinating patterns, to some famous fractals and to their many uses and applications.
Students will create their own Sierpinski Triangles and then come together to build a giant one.
Founder and CEO of Bubbly Maths Edutainment, Caroline Ainslie graduated as an electronic engineer, as maths had always been her favourite subject in school.
In 2005, Caroline turned her attention full-time, to delivering workshops and shows aimed at engaging young learners and teachers in rich mathematical activities by delivering them as fun puzzles and games using giant balloons and soap bubbles.
Caroline is a regular in Maths Week Ireland, Telegraph Festival of Education and many teacher and maths conferences. Caroline is a Guinness World Record holder for the world’s largest balloon 3D fractal and co-hosts the annual attempt at the largest global maths and science lesson.
This workshop is strictly for 10–12 year-olds. There will be a short break during the workshop and a drink and a small snack will be provided. Students should bring their own snack if they have any allergies.
Discounted tickets are available to Ri Members. Find out more about how to join.
