Event description

Why do some professional tennis players grunt? Want to become a Wellness Guru in time for the post-Christmas recovery?  And too little fat can make you unwell? And a special kind of fat can make you burst into Spontaneous Human Combustion? Australian radio and TV presenter and author Dr Karl Kruszelnicki is back at the Ri for a special night of festive formulae and Christmas questioning. As well as taking us on a tour of some of the more interesting and obscure yuletide science, we will also flip things around for one night, with the audience going head-to-head with Dr Karl in an interactive quiz at the end. Bring a fully charged smartphone or tablet (and brain), and join us for an evening of festive fun!

Parental warning: This event will include surprising new information of links between certain “spiritual characters” and “Santa Claus” – but don’t worry, it will be cool.

This event is particularly suitable for ages 12+.

About the speaker

Dr Karl Kruszelnicki is an Australian science populariser with insatiable curiosity. He has degrees in Physics and Maths, Biomedical Engineering, Medicine and Surgery and has held a wide range of jobs, from doctor to film-maker, radio personality to labourer, car mechanic to physicist. He has written 43 books to date and plans to write a few more.

The doors will open at approximately 5.30pm, with a prompt start at 6.00pm. There will be time for questions after the talk.
