Event description

On a planet of limited resources and growing population, we must increasingly recycle and share. However, these require not only technological innovation but also a change in attitudes towards ownership, identity and our relationship with the material world. Join former Christmas Lecturer Bruce Hood and guests in an evening of discussion about the challenges facing our species.

Three Minute Thesis finalists:

  • Euan Doidge: 'WEEE are Golden -  metal recovery by solvent extraction'
  • Oliver Wilson 'Lessons from the fossil pollen time machine: how past people and climate change shaped Brazil’s Araucaria forests.'

Followed by the main talk:

  • Bruce Hood: 'Possessed! Ownership as a psychological barrier to sharing our renewable future.'

The doors will open at approximately 6.30pm, with a prompt start at 7.00pm. There will be time for questions after the talk.

Latecomers will be admitted into the gallery.
