Creating new apps, developing the next big smartphone, using ‘big data’ to solve problems across the world, are all exciting challenges that form part of the tech sector. Careers which use technology to push boundaries are growing at an ever increasing rate, as are careers which 'create' technology. However, only 30% of the workforce in the technology sector are women, and even fewer work in leadership or technical roles. Women are missing out! Hear from industry leaders and academic experts about the exciting opportunities that could be waiting for you.
Join us to hear inspirational stories from leading women in the tech industry, and find out about the excitement and possibilities a career in the sector can offer. Featuring talks, interactive sessions and a careers fair, this day will inspire the next generation to consider a career in tech.
This free event is for all students aged 14 to 18 and their teachers.
Hear from academics and industry leaders about the excitement of working in the technology field. Confirmed speakers include Catriona Campbell, founder of EY Seren - a design consultancy - and Sarah Wiseman, an expert in how humans interact with computers.
Over lunch, included for free as part of your ticket, meet companies at our careers fair. Companies appearing at the careers fair include JP Morgan and IBM.
The finale of the day will be a session of the live, interactive comedy game show WiFi Wars. Play along with your smartphone or tablet (and you'll need plenty of battery!).
As well as this, throughout the day we'll be inviting feedback and thoughts from you the audience on social media.
Benefit from free and better than half-price tickets, special offers and access to the CHRISTMAS LECTURES ticket ballot.
