CHRISTMAS LECTURES Workshop: Hack a hand held gamer

Enjoy the excitement of the CHRISTMAS LECTURES by hacking your own games console controlled by an Arduino and TWSU gamer kit.

Solering a gamer
Jordi Morera – Technology Will Save Us

Event description

Come along to the L'Oréal Young Scientist Centre at the Ri and join the CHRISTMAS LECTURE buzz by hacking your own games console controlled by an Arduino and TWSU gamer kit.

You will first learn and develop your soldering skills before moving swiftly on to construct the gamer shield, finding out about the functions of the individual electronic components along the way. Next we will introduce you to the Arduino and the language of sketch that allows you to control its interaction with the world; be prepared for an intellectual joyride and a steep learning curve!

Finally we will put it all together and have you playing games on your own take home device and a head full of ideas about how you can develop your gamer and use the Arduino for future hacks.

Please note

This workshop is for 11 - 18 year olds only.

You do not need to be attending the CHRISTMAS LECTURES to come to this workshop but tickets to this workshop will not allow you entry to the filming of the lectures. If you have obtained tickets for the CHRISTMAS LECTURE this day the workshop will finish in plenty of time for you to join the queue.

Please note this workshop will include a 40 minute break for lunch but food will not be provided

We have other workshops linked to the theme of the CHRISTMAS LECTURES this year. For the full programme, browse our What's On calendar.
