Following the latest Public Health England advice regarding the Covid-19 pandemic, we have taken the decision to postpone all of our public events and to close the Ri building to visitors in the immediate future.
Dear Ri Supporter
The physical and mental wellbeing of our staff, our visitors and all those who support the Ri is our first priority. Since the beginning of the Covid-19 outbreak, we have been following the official guidance from Public Health England, which is updated on the Gov.uk website at 2pm each day.
While the threat to the UK was considered moderate, we worked hard to keep our events running as planned, and the Ri Museum and café open to visitors for as long as possible.
However given the recent change in Public Health England advice – strongly advising people to stay away from bars, restaurants and theatres, and to work at home if at all possible – we have reluctantly taken the decision to suspend our public programme of talks and other activities and to close the Ri building to visitors with effect from 5pm, Tuesday 17 March.
We will keep this decision under review and will post any updates on this page, but we strongly believe that this is the responsible action to take and we currently expect to be closed until the end of May.
If you have booked tickets to one of our public events, or have a private venue hire booking, then we will be in touch shortly.
Now more than ever, it is important for us to all to be thinking more deeply about science at its place in our lives. Our building may be closed, but our work continues online.
For now though, we would just like to pass on our best wishes from all of us at the Ri. We hope that you, your families and friends stay safe and well during what is a worrying time for everyone.
Thank you for your continued support for the Ri and we look forward to seeing you again at one of our events in the not too distant future.
The Ri Team
