Find out more about the events we run for existing, new and potential Masterclass contributors
No face-to-face Masterclass series are currently running, but we are working with local collaborators to pilot online Masterclasses in some areas. You can get in touch to find out more about opportunities to get involved with Masterclasses.
Want to find out more about the Masterclass programme?
Meet the Masterclass team, learn more about the programme and the Ri in these interesting and fun taster sessions. The events include opportunities to take part in Masterclass-style activities and chat to the Ri Masterclass team and existing volunteers. Open to all newcomers and existing contributors who would like to know more and further their involvement.
Upcoming events:
Want to share your passion for the STEM subjects with enthusiastic young people as a Masterclass workshop leader?
Who can be a Masterclass workshop leader? The main requirements are enthusiasm for sharing their love of the STEM subjects, a good level of knowledge and willingness to communicate with young people. Find out more.
We particularly encourage those who are under represented in STEM fields across all dimensions of diversity to get involved – it’s crucial for the Masterclass students to meet a range of workshop leaders who bring different perspectives and experiences to the programme. We will support potential contributors to get involved in whatever way suits them and at their own pace.
Who are the Masterclass Speaker Training Events for? These events are aimed at new and prospective Masterclass workshop leaders, as well as existing speakers wishing for further development and experienced STEM communicators looking to try something new. As training and tailored support is provided, new workshop leaders do not need to have any previous experience in delivering workshops or working with young people.
What does the training day entail? Participants will join the Ri Masterclass team for a full day of training, where we will give an overview of some of the essential skills needed for creating and delivering an Ri Masterclass. Participants can choose to develop a workshop based on their own favourite topic or using our existing resources.
We will then support individuals on a 1-1 basis within our Speaker Development Programme as they continue to develop and deliver their Masterclasses.
Upcoming Events:
Our training events for new Masterclass workshop leaders are free. If the cost of travel is a barrier to attending, or if you have additional costs due to an accessibility need, please get in touch as we have a number of bursaries we can offer towards these costs.
If you are a regional Masterclass contributor and think there is demand for a Masterclass speaker training session in your area, please get in touch.
Throughout each academic year we run some informal networking events for Masterclass contributors (and potential contributors) in locations across the UK. These events are a chance for organisers, speakers, supporters and other contributors to meet and share ideas and resources. It is also an ideal opportunity for new and potential contributors to find our more about running or supporting Masterclasses in their area.
We do not have any upcoming events, but existing contributors can get in touch if they would like to discuss opportunities for the Ri to host a virtual networking event for their region.
Can't make any of these events but interested in getting involved? We are always happy to chat to newcomers about involvement opportunities, so please do get in touch with the team. You can find out more about being a Masterclass helper, workshop leader or organiser on our website.
You can also complete our expression of interest form if you would like us to contact you about future events.
