Seen through the eyes of people who became convinced of a date for the end of the world, 'Right Between Your Ears' explores how people believe, how we turn beliefs into certainties and mistake them for the truth. Watch the documentary and join producer-director Sheila Marshall and neuroscientist Kris De Meyer for a post-screening Q&A with journalist James Ball.
Kris De Meyer is a producer of Right Between Your Ears and a research fellow in neuroscience at King’s College London. He brings insights from neuroscience and psychology to the communication of contested, controversial issues in society (e.g. climate change and Brexit). He has spoken on BBC radio and television about the neuroscience of why fake news can be so believable.
Sheila Marshall is the producer-director of Right Between Your Ears, winning the 2017 Season Award for Best Feature Documentary from Lift-Off Global Network. Sheila has worked in film and television for over 10 years. She is currently working on her next film, Nobody Left to Hate, about how a social psychological experiment in desegregated schools in 1970s Austin Texas overcame tribal tensions and divisions.
The doors will open at approximately 6.30pm, with a prompt start at 7.00pm. There will be time for questions after the talk.
Latecomers will be admitted into the gallery.
