Join us for a wondrous afternoon of science activities that you can do at home. Alom Shaha will show his favourite demos and you can try them afterwards! From simple things you have lying around the house, Alom will show you how to create exciting and hands-on science anywhere in the house. The event will consist of a talk in the theatre, followed by hands-on activities around the building.
This event is particularly suitable for ages 7+.
Alom Shaha is a science teacher and dad who has spent most of his professional life trying to share his passion for science and education with the public. Alom was born in Bangladesh but grew up in London. He has produced, directed, and appeared in a number of television programmes for broadcasters such as the BBC, and has held fellowships from the National Endowment for Science, Technology, and the Arts (NESTA) and the Nuffield Foundation. Alom has represented his community as an elected politician, and has volunteered at a range of charitable organisations. He teaches at two comprehensive schools and writes for a number of print and online
Copies of Alom's book, Mr Shaha's Recipes for Wonder, will be available for purchase and signing after the talk.
The doors will open at approximately 1.30pm, with a prompt start at 2.00pm. There will be time for questions and activities after the talk.
Latecomers will be admitted into the gallery.
