Can mathematics help you to win a TV game show?
In this workshop with Mike Fletcher, students will explore this idea, and see if mathematics and probability theory can be used to significantly increase your chances of winning certain game shows, and test their theories using real clips from TV.
Mike Fletcher is a former Chief Examiner and Senior Lecturer in mathematics. He has been a consultant to Pearson TV on game shows. His particular interest is probability theory and he has lectured throughout the UK and abroad on the mathematics of TV game shows.
This workshop is strictly for 10–12 year-olds. There will be a short break during the workshop and a drink and a small snack will be provided. Students should bring their own snack if they have any allergies
The Mathematics Summer School workshops are based on Ri Mathematics Masterclasses. Students who have attended a Masterclass series which included a session on a similar topic may have already seen some of the content in this workshop. Please contact us on firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.
