Students will investigate the difference between acidic and alkaline solutions, and how they can neutralise each other in a reaction by forming a salt. Using this knowledge they can make their own personalised bath bombs. The workshop also allows them to observe the properties of oils and waxes and how they are able to dissolve into one another, giving them a better understanding of the chemical processes behind the manufacture of toiletries such as lip balms which they also make. This workshop is a great introduction to pH, neutralisation, solubility and changes.
This workshop is strictly for 7–9 year-olds only.
