Key dates for Masterclass organisers in spring 2014, including news on our Organisers' Conference.
We will be holding our 2014 Masterclass Organisers’ Conference on Friday 20 and Saturday 21 June, and hope to see many of you there. The Organisers’ Conference will include a variety of workshops, talks and other sessions for Masterclass Organisers, including keynote talks from Prof Dame Celia Hoyles, Prof Richard Noss and Hilary Royston-Bishop. We will once again be having a special dinner on the Friday evening, complete with mathematical entertainment. As in previous years, we would like to see a representative from all Masterclass groups wherever possible. We will be able to pay expenses for one person per group, but more than one person is welcome to attend. Further details will be available after Easter.
Every year, students who have attended Secondary Mathematics Masterclasses are invited to attend one of our regional Masterclass Celebration Events. In 2014 the events will be held on the following dates:
The events include engaging talks or workshops by several practicing mathematicians and other scientists and opportunities to try a variety of other mathematical activities. Full details will be sent out after Easter for organisers to pass on to their students. If they can’t wait, there is a form where they can register their early interest and we will send them an invitation directly.
This year, we are delighted to announce the first Network-wide Engineering Masterclass Celebration Event. This will include talks from practicing Engineers and workshop demonstrations from several Masterclass speakers. Students will be invited to attend with one parent; information will be sent out after Easter. This full-day event will take place on Saturday 5 July.
Last term, we reported that the Masterclass group in Hertfordshire is planning a special celebration to celebrate their 30th Anniversary. This will be held on Thursday 12 June in the University of Hertfordshire in Hatfield. Anyone involved with the group over the years is very welcome to attend – please contact us for more details.
