The L'Oréal Young Scientist Centre is generously supported by a network of funders and volunteers.
The workshops in the L'Oréal Young Scientist Centre (LYSC) are premium events that cover all the STEM disciplines and cater for a wide range of ages. The intensive staff involvement, high quality equipment and consumables mean that the actual cost per students can be as much as £45 per head. For schools to be able to afford to bring students to the LYSC it is vital that we maintain a steady stream of sponsorship and support.
The Young Scientist Centre has enjoyed the generous support of L’Oréal UK and Ireland since its inception in 2009. This allows our workshops to run at a heavily subsidised rate and for L’Oréal reinforces their commitment to science and research which has been a core value since their creation by the chemist Eugene Schueller in 1907.
The laboratory supply company TIMSTAR were extremely generous when the laboratory was set up and continue to support us with gifts in kind.
We are also in receipt of support from the Basil Samuel, 41 and Equitable charitable trusts along with the Richmond Parish Lands Charity. These grants allow us to further subsidise and support specific groups of students, inspiring them to pursue their interest in science, maths and technology.
We are always keen to expand both the workshops we offer and the students they are available to, we would welcome any additional funding to allow us to do so. If you are interested in supporting the development of a new workshop or helping a particular group of students to access the facility please do get in touch.
