Eight Ri Chistmas Lecturers make the top 100

Congratulations to Ri Christmas Lecturer Dr Mark Miodownik who made the inaugural Times Eureka 'Top 100' list of the most important contemporary figures in British science at number 89 (links to The Times are behind a paywall).Mark Miodownik

The 'Material Boy' joins seven former Ri Christmas Lectures: John Sulston (6), David Attenborough (7), Nancy Rothwell (10), Richard Dawkins (25), Colin Blakemore (65), John Krebs (69) and Marcus Du Sautoy (77) in the top 100 list that marks the first anniversary of Eureka, The Times' monthly science magazine.

Topping the list is incoming President of the Royal Society Sir Paul Nurse who gave a Friday Evening Discourse earlier this year (listen to it here). He is followed by Sir Mark Walport, Director of the Wellcome Trust who will be speaking along with Mark Henderson, Science Editor of The Times next week on genomics.

The Ri would also like to congratulate Fiona Fox, Director of the Science Media Centre who made the list at 66.
