About our research

The Davy Faraday Research Laboratory team is made up of chemists, doctors, physicists and engineers who work together to make magnetic nanoparticles to diagnose health problems, like cancer, and also help to treat them.

The team creates nanoparticles in the lab, then works on ways to inject them in the body and move them around using strong magnets and even heat them in the body to destroy cancerous tumours.

Click on the topics below to see their part in the overall research.

Chemistry

DFRL chemists make nanoparticles from metals like gold and iron

Physics

DFRL physicists make machines that use magnetic nanoparticles, once they have been injected into the body.

Medicine and Biology

Cell biologists and medics work to perfect the use of nanoparticles in the body

Publications

Research from the DFRL has been published in many different journals
