Julian Hunt was professor of fluid mechanics at Cambridge until 1991; then chief executive of the Met Office and UK representative at World Meteorological Organisation until 1997. He was appointed professor of climate modelling at University College London in 1999. He is also Chair of Cerc Ltd -an environmental consulting company. He is visiting fellow of the Malaysian Commonwealth Studies Centre in Cambridge 2008. He was appointed Baron Hunt of Chesterton 2000 and is a Fellow of the Royal Society. His main interests include turbulence, climate, environment, science policy and explaining and enthusing about science.
