Inspire your students
Are you tired of hearing that children find science dull, difficult and not for them? Do you wish that you could give your students a challenging, hands-on scientific experience to help them appreciate the true value of science in the world today?
Come to the new L'Oréal Young Scientist Centre (YSC) at The Royal Institution and explore science in our new state-of-the-art laboratory.
The YSC offers teachers and students the chance both to ask scientific questions and to design their own ways to answer them. We'll be exploring all aspects of science and technology - from making our own bio-fuel, using a crash test rig or analyzing our own DNA. Our aim is to ignite a passion for scientific discovery in both students and teachers and encourage curiosity-driven learning.
We want the YSC to be a place that is useful to and shaped by teachers so if you would like to contribute to its development please complete the survey by following the link: Click here to take the YSC Survey
A new experimental space
Students can enjoy an environment in the YSC that will not constrain them to producing the ‘right' results in a fixed period of time, as they often must do within the boundaries of the school curriculum. Instead they'll be able to be creative and to experiment in response to their observations, just as professional research scientists do.
And just as in the best professional research laboratories, we'll be giving students access to advanced technology and experiments outside the remit of the normal school curriculum.
