We're very proud of our new eGuide which aims to bring the stories of the people and experiments that have happened at the RI to life. They cost £3 to use and you don't need to pre-book them, unless you're coming in a large group. Just pick one up from reception when you get here. There is no set route round the exhibition, so you can whizz round in 20 minutes and get the highlights, or take a leisurely 1-2 hours getting the very best from us. It's very easy to use, with an intuitive point and click system that you'll pick up very quickly, even if you're a technophobe.
The themes of the content follow the themes of the three different floors of our museum. The lower ground floor, where the majority of content is located, covers experimentation and many of the famous discoveries made by Royal Institution scientists with their original equipment.
Faraday's induction ring and generator Hokey Cokey
Dewar and his thermos flask
A Davy lamp or a Stephenson lamp?
The ground floor tells the stories of the people of the Royal Institution, like our intrepid researchers Heath and Green.
The first floor celebrates our rich history of communication. We've also got a few games to play on the eGuide to test your observation skills, like our Laboratory spot it, in which you spot the changing equipment in RI labs over time. You can also give us your opinion about some of the most puzzling questions about science.
