Since October 1998 Simon Chaplin has been Senior Curator of the Museums of The Royal College of England, where he manages the Hunterian Museum and the Wellcome Museum of Anatomy and Pathology. Over the past six years his principal role has been content development for the Hunterian Museum, part of a ?3.1m refurbishment which was completed in February 2005.
After graduating with a BA (Hons) in Natural Sciences from Cambridge University he joined the Science Museum?s two-year graduate training programme in 1992. As well as working on the museum?s exhibitions during this period, he also helped run the first 'Science Night' ? a sleepover event for 300 children. Later on he was appointed the Science Museum's External Affairs Coordinator. He also acted as curator of the Agricultural Engineering Collection and was part of the project team for the museum's Making the Modern World gallery.
