Dr Matt Ridley

Matt Ridley is Chairman of the International Centre for Life. He is is the author of the international best-seller Genome, as well as The Origins of Virtue, The Red Queen and Nature via Nurture. He has BA and DPhil degrees from Oxford University in zoology and was science editor and American editor of The Economist between 1983 and 1992. He was a columnist for the Sunday Telegraph and Daily Telegraph between 1993 and 2000. He was the founding chairman of the International Centre for Life, a ?70 million science park and education project, between 1996 and 2003. He is currently chairman of Northern Rock plc. He lives near Newcastle upon Tyne with his wife, the neuroscientist Anya Hurlbert, and two children.
