Audiences across the UK will be encouraged to join a revolution in invention as part of a tour of live shows presented by electrical engineer Danielle George and inspired by the 2014 CHRISTMAS LECTURES 'Sparks will fly: How to hack your home'. The shows will be produced by the Royal Institution, supported by the Royal Academy of Engineering.

In a fast-paced, interactive show, Danielle will inspire audiences to use the sparks of their imagination to change the world, just like the many great inventors and engineers from our past and present. Using live demos and experiments, she will explain how to take control of the devices we use every day and adapt and transform them to do extraordinary things. This is tinkering for the 21st century!

Danielle said: “Today’s generation of young people are in a truly unique position. The technology we use and depend on every day is expanding and developing at a phenomenal rate and so our society has never been more equipped to be creative and innovative. I want young people across the country to realise that that they have the power to change the world right from their bedroom, kitchen table or garden shed."

Gail Cardew, Professor of Science, Culture and Society said: "The Ri is always looking for new ways to engage more people, young and old, with the science behind the CHRISTMAS LECTURES.

“Our aim with our 2014 series 'Sparks will fly: How to hack your home' was to bring to life the incredible ingenuity, innovation and creativity of engineering. I'm delighted that even more children and families around the country will have the chance to see engineering in action as part of a live show in their hometown."
