2018 marks the 200th anniversary of the publication of Mary Shelley’s novel ‘Frankenstein’. In the last event of this series, Philip Ball and a panel of experts will discuss how monsters have infiltrated popular culture.

Discourses
The Summer season of Discourses will start off with the new Royal Institution Director Shaun Fitzgerald, who will take you through the surprising physics of hot air on 24 May.
On 29 June, 100 years after the deadly Spanish flu, Peter Piot will discuss whether the world is ready for the next pandemic, and how we need to focus on prevention and preparedness for future health threats.
Family
This season's Family Fun Day is on 2 June and we'll be getting hands on with the science behind science fiction.
We also have Helen Scales discussing fascinating fish, Christopher Edge exploring infinite universes, Mark Thompson with his spectacular science, Ri Presenter Natasha Simons lighting the way, the weird world of liquid nitrogen and Jonny Berliner's Sci-Tunes.
